How to Read a Facial Expression?

When a person speak, when ones make face, what does it mean from her mind and from her heart? Does the face display indicate the right things of what ones is saying? Does ones speak different from what inside her heart?

Feelings are sometimes expressed through different facil expression. The following figure shows different usage of feelings through facial expression

Through DataFace website, it says that Expression implies a revelation about the characteristics of a person, a message about something internal to the expresser. In the context of the face and nonverbal communication, expression usually implies a change of a visual pattern over time, but as a static painting can express a mood or capture a sentiment, so too the face can express relatively static characteristics (sometimes called physiognomy). The concept of facial expression, thus, includes:

  • characteristic of a person that is represented, i.e., the signified;
  • visual configuration that represents this characteristic, i.e., the signifier;
  • the physical basis of this appearance, or sign vehicle, e.g., the skin, muscle movements, fat, wrinkles, lines, blemishes, etc.; and
  • typically, some person or other perceiver that perceives and interprets the signs.

However, this is totally different when we discuss on Face Reading. Face Reading is like undergoing occult studies on predicting ones personality through it face features.

Lin through her website said that face can be read like a map. Physiognomy is also called personology. She also outlining the fact of reading face is for relationship, entertainment and personality. Visit her link to read more.

The chinese have their own long-time studies on face reading. I am depicting from Chi of Earth site here which displaying the auspicious and inauspicious types of face:

For the ears

Auspicious: Above the eyebrow level; long earlobes; flat against head; wide door.
Inauspicious: Small earlobes; leaning forward; narrow door.

For the eyebrows

Auspicious: Dark, thick, long; smooth and orderly; high above eyes.
Inauspicious: Sparse, thin, pale, short; chaotic; close to eyes.

For the nose

Auspicious: High, straight bridge; big, round tip; full, fleshy wings; invisible nostrils.
Inauspicious: Low, crooked, hooked or bumpy bridge; pointed or upturned tip; thin wings; visible nostrils.

For the mouth

Auspicious: Rosy colored; thick, broad squared shape;
symmetrically balanced; lips closed.
Inauspicious: White, dark colored; thin; a small shape; symmetrically unbalanced; lips opened.

For the chin

Inauspicious: Thin, short, pointed or receded, dimpled or
